Lee Ann
Hi, all. I am sort of new to CR. I implemented a relaxed version of it about 8 years ago and with a busy work and family life gradually slipped back into lower quality nutrition. Recently I received a negative result of an endothelial function test (through a study I was participating in). I've been reading about this test, and my results scared me! I'm 39, and my score indicates endothelial dysfunction consistent with cardiac events within 7 years. I've also had a whole host of inflammation-type issues, most notably, interstitial cystitis. The IC is under control--although my physician said I would be on pain medication for the rest of my life, I am not, and I feel great! I've managed this through my diet--reducing inflammatory inducing foods. But, I'm ready to take that a step further and really embrace the CRON way. I have eaten about 1500 calories per day for years (I'm 5'7" and weigh 125 pounds). But I have NOT attended to the nutrients I eat. Being raised in the deep south USA, I unfortunately love all of the foods that are bad for me, and dislike fresh veggies for the most part. I know that's awful, but it is what it is. Eliminating fructose/sucrose is my first step. I really love the sugary and salty bad foods that most Americans love, so it's tough. I enjoy fast foods, candy, and all things evil I'm seeking ideas for dealing with those cravings so I can succeed. It's been several months since I've had a soda (huge accomplishment for me) and it's been a few weeks since I've had fast food. I'm doing okay, but there sure are times I've come close to caving. Now I need to add in more veggies... I know that seems simple to everyone here, but I just don't care for them. Perhaps I'll acquire a taste. Right now, I just try to see it as my "medicine." I love fruit, so that part is easy. I need to get medical tests, I suppose, but I think my physician might think I'm to ask for all of those! On to read the archived posts... Link to comment
AliciaHollywood
Hi, I'm new here too so I don't know if this fits the official protocol, but I find if I crave something sweet, Kashi crunchy granola bars aren't overloaded with sugar but still satisfies that urge, also sweet potatoes with some cinnamon and virgin coconut oil (a healthy fat-- google it) satisfy me. Fruit or dried fruit (in very small amounts because it's highly caloric but is healthier than candy and processed sweets at least.) I don't crave salt, but I add cayenne pepper, garlic, cumin, or black pepper to almost everything I eat which could replace your needs for salt and may also boost metabolism. :) Alicia Link to comment

Linda6214
Hi Everyone, I'd like to introduce myself. I am new to the CR Society as of today. I am 49, 5"4 and feel best at 114, BMI of 19. I can consume 1000 calories a day and lose but only 1200 to maintain. Period. I exercise every day and I never adjust calorie intake based on exercise. It is already factored in for me. Staying trim takes more discipline each passing year it seems. I joined the CR Society today because I want to have the support of other like minded individuals with the same health focused goal where food consumption is concerned. My Dad died of Cancer and my Mother's side from Heart disease. I am wellness focused. I want to proactively decrease my risk factors by eating a nutritionally sound diet, 360 days of the year. (yes, 5 days of holiday or birthday cheating) I am a Whole Foods and Farmer's Market buyer to ensure organically fresh food products. I invite any member of this CR Society who wants to support and be supported with this personal healthy eating goal to reach out so we can do this together. It is NOT easy to make good food choices every meal of every day. We need to stick together. I am glad I found this organization. Please be in touch if you are interested in more of a one on one or group support process. Linda Link to comment
