Skin Aging

Has anyone noticed a difference in their skin on the CR diet? I am a new member and I have reduced my calorie intake for a few months with some success (sugar is my weak spot, I will splurge now and again). I also have been trying to adhere(80% of the time) to a primal/paleo diet. That diet is what actually started reducing my CR intake. I am hoping I can achieve success with a combination of both diets because I want to achieve a more youthful apperance, not only physically but emotionally too.

Fewer blemishes, pimples and dry spots for me. I also started using a few drops of olive oil on my face every day and that made my skin look a whole lot better. It's also a 7.x factor sunscreen too. Less subcutaneous fats on the face make it look a bit more angular in some ways. I think the fat content of the face is very individual in nature since my wife complains that her CR makes her look older.

Keith - I had no idea about the SPF factor in olive oil. I am just learning about CRON and am extremely interested in the skin benefits for sure, as I've had mild/moderate blemish problems my whole life.

CRON has really helped me clear up all my little skin problems. I protect my face everyday with a drop or two of olive oil rubbed onto the skin. It's recommended by Bernando Lapollo (Age 112 and still kicking!) in his book Live More Age Less.

Incredibly old post...but oh, well...

I have teenage-pattern acne at 35, but I have it well under control.  CR makes no difference.  My cycle does.  :)  I have little hope of it improving, as my mother is at the tail end of menopause and still gets a few, as did my grandmother until the end of menopause.

I have chubby cheeks to the extent that I look like I've got a BMI of 30 at a BMI of 25.  I only get a hint of cheekbones (even though I have pronounced ones!) at a BMI of 22.  I look best at a BMI below 21 for that reason.  I will be the most gorgeous middle-aged lady ever at this rate.

I have unusually few wrinkles, but much has to do with an aggressive and effective skin care regimen.

I also have no gray hair, not even one, but neither did one of my grandmothers in her 90s.  Gray hair doesn't seem to be much of a good indicator for aging health.

I started CR when I was 29. Most people then said I looked like I was in my mid-30s. Now I'm 52, and most people guess I look like I'm in my late 40s. Progress, if minimal. Though maybe people are just kinder towards the middle-aged.

Seriously, long-term, it would make sense that CR would slow the aging of most if not all organs, including the skin. And hormonal changes would likely reduce acne. But for those of us who don't start out with chubby cheeks, CR can produce a haggard look, alas.
