Mike Lustgarten Posted November 11, 2020 Report Share Posted November 11, 2020 A reduced mortality risk and an increased lifespan has been reported for people who have APOE2 alleles, when compared with APOE3 or APOE4, but beyond associations, data for lifespan in APOE-expressing mice was recently reported, evidence that supports a causative role for APOE on longevity. Ron Put Posted November 12, 2020 Report Share Posted November 12, 2020 Yep, it certainly looks like it. But we are complex systems and there are a lot of moving parts for each of us. A particular allele or a group may often be a significant factor, but it's rarely the decisive one. An APOE2 individual on a diet of Coke, booze, KFC and meth is unlikely to fare better than an APOE4 vegan who keeps healthy habits 🙂 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
