  1. Hi, My name is Fred. I've posted on here quite a few times in the past (years ago) and am thinking about trying to wean myself onto a CR diet yet again. I remember the fun challenge of trying to get the most nutrients in the fewest calories the first time I attempted to start the diet. My question is this -- What kinds of foods would you recommend I eat to get the most nutrition while on the diet? I know that green leafy vegetables are the best choice, so I am basing my diet on salads (mostly cabbage, romaine and spinach). What should I add to the salad to get the most nutrition? I have tried Cronometer but I get frustrated easily and know it's easier to simply ask the question on here and get quick answers from long-time practitioners. What are the basic foods I should add to the salad to get the best results?? I would appreciate any and all feedback.
  2. Hi All, I remember reading in "The CR Way" that one should keep the protein intake to a minimum while following the CRON diet. Can anyone tell me -- what is a good way to calculate how much protein I am supposed to be taking in? Thanks!! Fred
  3. Yes, but WHY wouldn't they live just as long, is what I mean to say, seeing that they still get all the vitamins and nutrients in?
  4. Hi All, Can someone tell me what's to stop a person from just eating a low-calorie diet that is full of empty calories but taking a multi-vitamin and calling it CR??
  5. Hi, Does anyone know if famous CRONies like Michael Rae, April Smith, Paul McGlothin, Meredith Averill, David Fisher or Joe Cordell are active members of this group? For some reason, I thought I saw Michael Rae posting on here recently. Just wondering...
  6. I personally think it's amazing that a person can keep themselves going at such a low calorie intake. I liked watching the documentaries on YouTube about Michael Rae and April Smith... Also Paul McGlothin, Meredith Averill... Also David Fisher and Joe Cordell... The most extreme case I've heard of was April Smith who eats only 1200-1300(?) calories a day... I hope I can be like this one day!!! Right now, I weigh 220 lbs. though, so going on a CR diet is a MUST for longevity at this point... Even if their BMI is low, I believe that these people are generally healthy as a rule...
  7. OK Quick Question: How much of a person's longevity do you think is due to luck??
  8. I was so bummed out to read about this!! I was really hoping she beat Jeanne Calment's record... :(
  9. Thanks, Dean... For the comment and the list!!! Now I know what to look for in the grocery store... Right now, I'm sticking to green cabbage, but would once a week be enough to have the red cabbage and reap its benefits? If not, how often would be the minimum?? I was thinking about switching my regular cabbage for red cabbage on Fridays... I'm currently doing regular cabbage on every day except Friday and Savoy cabbage on Fridays...
  10. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has a chart or knows which green leafy vegetables are the most nutritious... I know iceberg is no good and spinach is great but other than that I have no idea... Where does cabbage fall? I really like cabbage and want to start basing my diet on cabbage if it is, indeed, nutrient dense... Can anyone help? Much thanks.
  11. K cool... Makes sense. Thanks. Watched the video. I'll try to throw a few raspberries in my salad or have a some strawberries for breakfast everyday but that's about all I can do lol... I don't care for non-juiced fruit very much.
  12. cool cool... thanks... What's wrong with fruit juice, btw? Can you elaborate?
  13. And thanks for your help again, by the way, @Dean Pomerleau!!
