I apologize if this is in the wrong place, Im fairly new to using forums. I am usually a lurker.

I am 5'3" Female 24 years old

I am very passionate about My CR, after a long time of thinking about it and doing research, I started today!.

I am confident that this is a step in the right direction, because this is the way that my grandmother eats, and she is 86 and full of beans!

That is how I want to be at 86 years old.

So I've had my meal and it is now 3:00pm, my next meal will be at or after 3:00 pm tommorow.

My goals I hope to achieve while doing CR are the following :

Allow my body enough time to clean my colon, which is where a healthy body starts.

Reset my body's clock in terms of hunger and reset my palet for healthful foods.

Use my digestive system less, in effect allowing my body to use energy to clean house.

Become more mentally alert.

I don't have a scale, and I don't want to buy one, but I think judging by my waist measurement , which is 30 inches. I am 5'3" Female 24 years old

I am a tiny bit overweight, I wouldn't mind CR to naturally take me down to a healthier body weight.

I have only recieved negative feedback from people when Ive discussed CR with them, it doesnt matter how many articles I link to people, the blinders remain on.

Im glad that this community exists! :D

Hi GrainingHealth, Congratulations on starting a new healthy lifestyle. I'd caution you to implement CRON slowly over time rather than jump into it with both feet. If you're successful, you'll have a very long and healthy life to optimize each element in your lifestyle. There's no need to hurry and get it all right at the start. Give your body the time it needs to adjust to the new changes. This is especially true when it comes to reducing the calories that you eat.

Really it's very important to use the scale when you first start off. Without it, you don't know where you've been and where you're going. The whole exercise is more complex than it seems at the start, so do it right by measuring and recording your food intake carefully. You'll be surprised how much info it provides and how the numbers lead you to an optimal diet pretty quickly. Try Cronometer.com to record your diet.

You haven't mentioned it, but if you haven't already gone out and got some medical tests, it would be a good time to do so. These tests are the real indicators whether you're doing everything right or not. You should notice lower body temp, blood pressure, blood counts. thyroid hormones, IGF-1 and improved cholesterol profile. Often you will get a drop in body weight and noticeably robust health. If you're not sure what tests to get from your research, you should check out the books listed on the CRSociety website.

Don't expect to convert many of the people around you to a better lifestyle. It's one of the most frustrating parts of living a healthy lifestyle. Everyone wants great health, but doesn't want to do the work to achieve it.

Cheers, and good health to ya!

Hello, I'm new here too, previously lurked and posted as HappyMe. I arrived at what I call paleoCRON over a 5-8 year period of trial and error while in my late 30s. My motivations were the same as yours. I have been on my diet for over 5 years and I am thrilled with it. Before this I never felt well, now I feel great.

I also got a lot of negative comments about diet. I think a lot of it comes from being a woman. A woman's body seems to be highly interesting to society and the media. It can be their problem, not mine. ;)

Nourishment is no longer part of our culture. We have to learn it on our own nowadays. Part of that for me was considering what kind of life I wanted to have, not just in terms of health or longevity, but economically, societally, etc. The same thoughts you seem to be having. Learning to feed myself was part of maturing to be self-responsible in other ways too. Working on the diet part was helpful to that physically, but also psychologically, etc.

I eat two meals and sometimes one snack a day. I don't agree with "grazing" and I also think that you probably shouldn't go for 24 hours without eating as you have planned. I think you can get ulcers from either due to stomach acid (either hyperstimulated or from hunger).

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to introduce myself. I am new to the CR Society as of today.  I am 49,  5"4 and feel best at 114, BMI of 19. I can consume 1000 calories a day and lose but only 1200 to maintain. Period. I exercise every day and I never adjust calorie intake based on exercise. It is already factored in for me. Staying trim takes more discipline each passing year it seems.   I  joined the CR Society today because I want to have the support of other like minded individuals with the same health focused goal where food consumption is concerned. My Dad died of Cancer and my Mother's side from Heart disease. I am wellness focused. I want to proactively decrease my risk factors by eating a nutritionally sound diet, 360 days of the year. (yes, 5 days of holiday or birthday cheating) I am a Whole Foods and Farmer's Market buyer to ensure organically fresh food products.

I invite any member of this CR Society who wants to support and be supported with this personal healthy eating goal to reach out so we can do this together. It is NOT easy to make good food choices every meal of every day. We need to stick together. I am glad I found this organization. Please be in touch if you are interested in more of a one on one or group support process.

Linda
