Micronair
I am curious to know if any practicing members are Type 2 diabetics. Logic suggests that if they were before, they should not be now. Link to comment

Micronair
I'm just beginning CR to see if it can help. Hi JLH. I 'was' diabetic T2 - diagnosed at 65. When 73, the doctor attempted to 'upgrade' medication and I rebelled. A recent clinical study (The Newcastle Diet) by a UK University demonstrated that it could be reversed by a relatively specific diet. This 'shock' diet removes the visceral fat from the internal organs - notably pancreas, liver & kidneys. I have taken no medication for 12 months, and my BG, BP, Cholesterol etc are all normal. I have decided that the diet does indeed reverse diabetes by enabling the pancreas to function again by reduction of visceral fat, but it is only reversal, not cure. It took me 30 years to become diabetic, and therefore I expect it to take another 30 years of determined sensible diet to restore my organs to what they should be. This hopefully will also correct the other factor in DT2 of Insulin resistance. It's all very well for the pancreas being able to produce insulin again, but it then has to enable the glucose to be utilised by the cells etc. Hence it seemed the shortest route to recovery may well be a CR diet.
