An 'easy' start to CRON?

It may be of help to some...

When I took the plunge and seriously decided to address my weight problem (to effectively & successfully reverse my T2 diabetes), I settled on using one of the several diet packs that are readily available.

I refer to such well known products such as Slimfast, Optislim, Celebrity Slim, and a host of other similar items.

The reason for so doing was that by taking, for example, two ready liquid meals, I was effectively guaranteed that I would have 100% of my bodily minimum daily requirements of food & nutrients.

Admittedly, ther are only about 500kcals in those two meals, but then I could fill up on salads, soups and similar meals in between.

I found this surprisingly easy too (for a self-confessed glutton of 18 stone).

The hardest part was finding meals that I could accept -some we're like wallpaper paste!

After a week, the hunger pangs subsided, and I could readily adjust my diet to suit my plan of at that time 1600kcals per day.

My daughter, impressed by my results, then undertook a similar diet (purely because she was seriously overweight at 16 stone, and has lost 5 and half stone in 12 months).

One of the hardest things to do when getting started is entering in all the foods that you eat into some program or web site. Most of us who are successful with CRON wind up with a diet having lots of vegetables from the produce isle of the supermarket and a small amount of something else for protein and a few supplements to make up for what we didn't get. That way we know exactly what we're eating and exactly what to put into our food tracking software. The trouble with multi vitamins, liquid diets and nutrient bars etc is that you don't really know with any accuracy what went into them and if the vitamins and minerals are competing for the same body receptors at the same time. A good example is copper and zinc. If you take them at the same time, one can block the absorption of the other. There are also other similar examples with other vitamins and minerals. Eat real food, not processed junk food. Teach yourself how to cook. Once you get rid of all the sugary junk in your diet, your taste buds will come back alive and you'll be able to taste real food once again. Start by removing one bad item from your diet and replacing it with something healthy like a vegetable or fruit. Do this again and again until you're eating all healthy foods. Only then start to cut your calories. Make your changes slowly and deliberately so that your body has a chance to adjust to the new foods. Your chances of success are much greater if you take this gradual approach.

I'm glad that you guys are starting to address your problems, and I hope you'll be successful with your weight loss.
