timc
As there have been no posts to Meta since February and two people expressed fidelty to Meta (while electing to post on the main Society list), I propose that the Meta list be closed indefinitely and remaining web links be removed (signups will not be allowed, posts will not be made). The decision could be easily reversed until a board-level consensus is made to not host the data (it costs the CRSI money to keep Meta around). Meta-suitable business can take place here. Who recalls the consensus back when it was discussed "how do we decide how we decide"? This proposal is half serious and half tongue-in-cheek. It is serious in that there is no point checking for posts in need of moderation there (which I do several times a day - it mainly gets spam to push B2B lists). It is somewhat tongue-in-cheek in that two people professed fidelity to Meta despite not posting here when it would have been perfectly suited. From Saul: > seemed to indicate that it might replace our current CR, CRCOMM and > CRMETA lists -- this greatly troubles me. From Conrad: > To replace our current CR, CRCOMM and CRMETA lists with > moderated forums (?) - this greatly troubles me, too. I would expect Saul and Conrad would support closing Meta down. There is little purpose left here as - the posting rules have been static and mostly without controversy - "Meta" issues are either handled off-list or via the CRSI board - there is a suitable replacement elsewhere if a Meta discussion is required Link to comment
