I have gotten the "weird-eye" (this is distinctly different from the "stink-eye" or the "evil-eye", more of a "boy, you're weird, but ok . . ." sentiment implied) when my family makes apple pies for the holidays and I make sure the apple peels are procured for me and salads later in the day. I have not found more interesting/delicious ways to use the peels yet - but a quasi-pickle would be neat. People pickle watermelon rinds, so why not? :-)
