Please keep in mind that elevated blood pressure is only a biomarker of an underlying systemic disease, of which we have a pretty dim understanding. IOW, lowering BP might do little or nothing to prevent the long-term complications.
I'm 65 and swim almost daily. I greatly enjoy my brief end-of-lane chats with older swimmers. I recently tried to have a short conversation with a woman who appeared to be at least 90. She was unable to converse with me (seemed to have dementia) but swam much faster than I can!
Not sure how long I'll live. They are now telling me my HDL of 108 may kill me.
