I live in Italy. until now, unvaccinated people could take a quick swab and have access to gyms and other events (with the exception of school teacher now). Italy has anticipated some restrictions compared to other European countries. I must say that the situation is not exactly like China; on TV and journals people against vaccines are often interviewed; weekly there have been people protesting in various cities, mostly without masks... in China all this would not have been possible 🙂

Hi everyone, have you seen this recent video by Dr. Fontana just on the use of fructose? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZRzQKY9sbc

I have to say that the week following the FMD diet days I have more difficulty to limit what I eat, especially dark chocolate and fruits... Mccoy, I plan to follow FMD diet only three times a year, the rest of time I do a 32 hours of water fasting a week. all the best, Cloud

Hello Mccoy, here is the link to the vegetable soup available in Italian store here: http://www.catalogoprodotti.coop.it/pam/it/Categorie-PAM/Alimentari-freschi/Verdura/Verdura-preparata/vellutata-di-verdure-Biologica-620-g/p/7215516 I supposed that complex carbohydrates like whole brown rice cakes are allowed, the first time I tried FMD I based on the recipes provided freely by Josh on his blog on aging. ciao!

I think the version can be defined official, since it appears on Longo's own book. He just describes the types of acceptable foods, quantities, macronutrients ratios, calories. Other details I got from the patent submission. Cronometer is indeed a great help to reach the target calories and ratios. It would be very time consuming otherwise. The PROLON version is simply the ready package. I don't know exactly what's in there. Thanks mccoy, I will give a look at your crometer settings, taking advantage of the school holidays last week I have also completed (the third time) one FMD cycle. I have used an excel file and every evening I calculated the right proportion of, essentially, my ingredients were: steamed vegetables, nuts, olive oil, soups . I used to eat in three meals. I have to say that the process is time consuming but also instructive. This time the experience has been better than previously but I think I could not follow a cycle while working, especially if you have also to cook. I have found a food combination very fast to prepare that is very near to the macronutrients ratios specified by Longo's work: two vegetables soups organic ready from supermarket (about 4€ each , 620 ml), 20 g of olive oil, 4 cakes of brown rice (Also, for the palate! ). A little boring for 5 days, but next time I will try with this, avoiding so to cook anything. This lecture is cited in the Longo's book, but is available only recently: I think it is interesting. all the best, Cloud

Hello Mechanism, sorry for the delay, we returned home just yesterday and before I had some troubles to connecting to the CR forum with my smartphone. The association I talked about is named "Sognamondo", they organize eco camping with vegan food in Gargano, a beautiful area located in Puglia, ar Region in the South of Italy. When you will visit Italy make me know, we can organise a CR meeting here :-)

Hello Mechanism, in Italy there are various associations proposing summer holidays in camping on the sea with vegan (or pesco-vegetarian) meals.they propose also some activities, for example in the morning yoga or taiji, in the afternoon something for children and in the evening usually something with music, etc. The quality of proposal can be very different. I like this one I have found becausethe meals are excellent and they are good people, with a sincere and open attitude. We are more then 100 people, the majority staying in tents, others in bungalows or small apartment. I attach the pictures of today's and yesterday's lunch.

I really like sauerkraut, in the past I appreciated other fermented vegetables in macrobiotics restaurants. Recently I found a reference to kimchi, a korean fermented recipe, in the book "The good gut" by Stanford University researchers. And I decided to try to make kimchi. I followed the indications in the recipe here and I have to say that I am satisfied of the results. I like a lot kimchi. And what about you? Do you eat kimchi or other fermented foods in your diet?

Regarding Zusanli -acupuncture point: From today I have more free time from work and I restarted to practise moxa on zusanli points.Moxa is cheap and can be practiced by non-medical people also. Zusanli point is an important point in Chinese medicine, it is considered a point promoting health and longevity. I practise moxa on zusanli for about half an hour, usually while reading some book. (the only risk is if you are distracted -or fall asleep! :) and burn skin ) If someone need more details can ask me. I use some moxa stick like this. A good book is this. As easier alternative to the use of moxa or acupuncture, you can simply massage zusanli point.(example) Sometime at the end of my taiji classes I propose a brief automassage session finishing beating with fists on zusanli points. Always on the side of Chinese medicine, I have also just found this article: "Berberine activates thermogenesis in white and brown adipose tissue" , PMID 25423280 I haven't find cited berberine in the Dean's list. maybe deserve to be inserted? Berberine is contained in Berberis vulgaris , I used to put some barberries in my almond's milk at breakfast.

Hello Dean, no I didnt' read your latest post. I can not keep up with your workload I want to say that I really appreciate what you do, selflessly share the results that come with your study. Others, like for example the founders of CR way, legitimately make a business of their work, but I must say that I prefer, for my character and personal philosophy of life, an open and communitary model like here.

Sensible Diet and Lifestyle Advice for Longevity
Cloud replied to Dean Pomerleau's topic in General Health and Longevity
Thanks for the interesting post, I was not so aware of the risk of UV rays for eyes. Regarding UV exposition in the car, UVA only goes through the window, and when I have long travels by car in summer I use these sleeves UPF 50 +: Sleeves Coolibar (could be another "cool Tools" ? ) cloud- 51 replies

Hello Dean, thanks for all the reported analysis . I have some doubts on the finals. I remember that Luigi fontana in the lecture i linked some months ago ( link at about 33:40) recalled some studies on the inibitory effects of protein restrictions on prostate cancer models on mice [1] and of protein restrictions and intermittent fasting in breast cancer [2] (open issue: relationship between CR and protein restrictions) If then we consider the new view on cancer seen like a failure of the body's immune defense system, for convenience I cite the text regarding that from Josh Mitteldorf's blog here : << The old view was that there are random mutations in a particular cell line, a series of unfortunate accidents that cause the cells to disregard regulating signals from the body and just continue replicating and growing out of control. Now we realize that cancer is a failure of the body’s immune defense system. When we are young, our white blood cells search and destroy incipient cancers, but as we get older the immune early warning system is gradually shut down.>> the difference between prevention and inhibition becomes more smooth, could not be so? In other words if CR is effective in preventing infections and cancer and the reason is the reinforced immunitary system (isn't it so?), then should be effective also if you have got an infection or cancer (with the inhibiting effects reported by Fontana). What do you think? Cloud [1] Fontana, Oncotarget, 2013 PMID 24353195 [2] Lamming, Oncotarget, 2015 PMI 26378060
