  1. Thank you both. I do remember seeing the Walford interview on PBS, and I think I read the interview in Scientific American with Walford. At the time I was reading anything that had him in it and his two books.
  2. This issue I believe was in the 90's. I had the issue at one time, but no longer do. Does anyone remember it or what it was called? I am not sure if it was a total Calorie Restriction issue or an Anti-Aging issue with with Calorie Restriction as the main topic. I would like to attain this issue, if anyone remembers it or what it was called. I went to the Scientific American website and couldn't find anything close. I am not even sure if they will sell an old individual issue with purchasing a $199 dollar digital subscription It may have been one of those Time special issues about a topic that they have from time to time.
  3. Yes, I get that. The men in my family usually stroke out in their mid 70's. I have two older brothers I frequently contact to see how they are in one my say a very calculating way. One is 76 and the other just turned 82. The one who turned 82, had a bypass about 5 or 6 years ago, although his doctor always told him his cholesterol was good. This prompted me to more strict in my diet and ask my doctor to put me on a statin.
  4. Yes, I assumed there had to be something more. I didn't think I was going to live to 103, all things considered. Sorry if this post sounded critical. I respect your work. Although I do know a 100 year old who lives on her own, with an aide that comes in a few hours a day. She has lived that long in good health despite of what she does, instead of because of it. My Godmother lived to be 102 and her husband lived to be 98, which I think had more to do with their positive attitude more than anything else.
  5. I have been reading Michael Lustgarten's site. I am fascinated by his attempts to quantify biological age and using his diet to try to get the best outcomes. Most Age Calculators that use blood test, include tests one wouldn't routinely get during a regular doctor's visit, I wanted to find one that would just have the tests I get from my internist/cardiologist at NYU Langone. I found one. It is what Lustgarten has used called Al 3.0. He tries optimize his diet to see if he is going in the right direction. This is the same one I used today. The 3.0 has the least amount of tests. It is from an anti aging clinic in Hong Kong. I I put in the blood test I took on Sept. 27, 2022. It told me I have a biological age of 37. What is laughable is that I have some health issues and I am 73. I had A-fib first diagnosed a few years ago. I have had three ablations, and four cardioversions. After my last ablation I was in normal rhythm for about a year, but recently EKG detected a flutter. My Electro-Cardiologist told me this month that it is nothing to be concerned about it is something that presents itself in some people after multiple ablations. My response was, "Oh cool". Anyway, although I try to practice CR and eat mostly a plant based diet, I do have bad food binges. often. My exercise program is what I would call a minimum fitness program. I was just wondering what others think of Age Calculators. Lustgarten is 47 chronologically and his Biological age is always shows him to be in his 30's. Me too, only I am chronologically 73 and don't do a tenth of what he does to try to keep aging in check.
  6. Thank you, I appreciate it. I was a bit harsh. Because of tests I had before my cardiac ablations, I knew I had some degree of plaque. Maybe you should have your arteries checked for plaque periodically to be on the safe side. You know, "Trust but verify"
  7. Dr. Baker was a orthopedic surgeon not a cardiologist. You're okay with an LDL of 287? Fantastic! I was not okay with an LDL of 130 and neither was my cardiologist for the fact I have a brother who had a bypass about two years older than I am now who had lower LDL than I had. My LDL is now 60 with a total cholesterol of 148, HDL of 77 VLDL of 11 and triglycerides of 53. I had A-fib and after 3 ablations I have been back in normal rhythm for over a year. My brother is now 80 and the oldest male in my family ever. I was not okay with A-fib, not okay with high LDL and was very okay with getting my two shots of vaccine. I am not joining the "Death Cult" I had said it before that I wasn't posting to this site anymore and probably will stop reading it. I turn 72 in a few days and have no time for nonsense that only angers me. Live and be well.
  8. What about his LDL or does that not matter to people who extol a high animal protein diet for health. High blood sugar and high A1C for a person who doesn't eat carbs and he chalked that up to a deficiency of squats? I started reading posts from the CR Society twenty years ago when people were cutting calories to lengthen their life span, not caring about how buff they looked on the beach. I guess it has changed. Keto fanatics, anti-vaxxers, etc. I don't think you can eat a carnivore diet (which Baker does) and consider that "health conscious" BTW "Dr." Baker lost his medical license in 2017 and has been banned from Twitter. https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Shawn_Baker
  9. I've seen many bodybuilders over the years who died in their 50's. Arnold has gone on a vegan diet himself after his own heart issues. I would put Dr. Gregor's blood work against Dr. Baker's any day. This video talks about Dr. Baker's bloodwork. Stick around until he gets to Dr. Baker's risk for diabetes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxC_76sUIf8
  10. I agree stupid is spreading. I will no longer go to this website. Have nothing more to say.
  11. I just got the first dose of Modena Vaccine this past Friday and I am scheduled for second dose on March 12th. I am 71 years old. Does anyone have an opinion on whether fasting (FMD or water) or senolytics (fisetin) would help or hurt immune response between doses?
  12. In the podcast, James Wilkes brings up a study done on pigs. It was a study using a Forrest plot. I am not a scientist, but even Kresser seemed to agree that vegetable protein was as absorbable as animal protein. I think it doesn't really matter anyway. I track everything on Cronometer, and although I am 70 and Longo thinks someone my age should get slightly more, I take his recomendation and add 10% and it is still easy to do. I don't know how it is in Europe, but Americans are crazy about getting enough protein. I will eat fish in restaurants, if I ever get to go to a restaurant again. Only because I like it, and not because I think I need it in my diet. Eating animal protein is what contributed to my ill health, not getting too little of it. Been a vegan since March of 2019, and I fear it is too little and too late.
